The Government approved a draft amendment to the Law on Road Safety and Code of Administrative Offenses abolishing the fine for the drivers who forget their licenses, provided that they can produce a valid ID instead.

The Ministry of the Interior said it also seeks to implement the concept of “the right to drive vehicles” by dividing it from the definition of “driving license”, which will enable the adoption in the future of international practices related to electronic driving licenses.

The same project seeks to also adopt practices related to holders of driving licenses issued by other countries but who reside in Moldova. Driving vehicles with such licenses will be possible only for 12 months.
