Two men of 29 and 38 from Zaicani village of Rascani district were arrested on suspicion of putting forged dollars into circulation, especially 100-dollar bills. The police established that the group had worked in the municipality of Balti for about a year, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, several controlled purchases were made in order to identify the suspects. During the last purchase, one of the men was arrested.

It was determined that the forged dollars were brought from Russia, hidden in different packages. Upon a search at one of the men’s home, there were found eleven forged 100-dollar bills.

The two men face 7 to 15 years in jail for putting forged money into circulation.
