More than 14,000 hectares of forest in central Moldova are being sprayed with pesticide with the help of two helicopters. The works will be completed on May 4, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva”, the danger of forests being destroyed was discovered as a result of examinations carried out by forestry companies and the Center for Forest Monitoring and Protection of the Institute of Forest Research and Planning.

The helicopters use spraying equipment with very low consumption. A sum of 2.5 million lei was allocated from the state budget for the purpose. Last year, such works were performed on an area of 22,500 hectares.
