More than 6,000 hectares of forests in Orhei and Soldanesti will be sprayed with pesticides against pests during April 16-25. The Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” said the forests in Moldova occupy an area of almost 46,000 ha, over 20,000 ha of which include hotbeds that require emergency protection measures, IPN reports.
According to “Moldsilva”, the chemicals used to spray the forests are not dangerous for humans. But the owners of beehives located near the areas that will be sprayed should close up the bees on the spraying day and four days after it.
Domestic animals should also not be present in the area, while the population is recommended to refrain from collecting mushrooms or resting in the woods in the period.
