Foreigners will be able to apply for Moldovan visas in electronic format

The foreign citizens will be able to apply to the embassies of Moldova for visas in electronic format too. Executive director of the e-Governance Center Stela Mocan has told IPN that owing to the “e-Visa” service, it will be easier to plan trips for tourism and businesses purposes to Moldova. The service will enable to obtain an electronic visa that is the equivalent of the traditional visa.

Before the service is launched, most probably next March, the legislation should be adjusted and amended. The goal of the service is to enable more citizens to have access to visas, without needing to travel to one country or another. “A lot of foreign citizens refuse to come to Moldova because of the difficulties they encounter in the process of obtaining visas,” said Stela Mocan.

The applicants will fill out the application for visa in electronic format. If the document is accepted, they will be able to pay the tax with the bank card. The visa will be issued within several days, after the data are processed and confirmed. With the printed document, the holders will be able to enter Moldova through any border crossing point. The e-Visa will not be printed in the passport.

Moldova has 39 embassies. The launch of the “e-Visa” service is part of the e-Government process.
