A driver under the influence of alcohol caused a traffic accident that injured seriously a 29-year-old citizen of Syria. According to Chisinau Road Police Inspector Ion Roscovanu, the accident occurred at 1:30 on Alba Iulia Streeet. A Volkswagen-Transporter van, driven by a drunken 26-year-old man, collided with a Mercedes-200 car, driven by a Syrian national, employee at a Chisinau-based company. The Syrian was admitted to the Emergency Hospital with head trauma and mental shock. A young woman, 19, got multiple injuries after she was struck by a Dacia-Logan taxi cab on Banulescu-Bodoni Street. On the whole, on weekend, there were registered 20 traffic accidents that injured 3 persons in the capital city. 40 drivers were fined for drunk-driving.
