According to the situation on August 1, 2016, the foreign trade of the Transnistrian region decreased by 25% compared with the similar period last year. Imports fell by 31%, while exports by 12%, IPN reports.
The local press reported that the so-called leader of the Transnistrian executive Pavel Prokudin called an emergency meeting to discuss the economic situation. In this, it was announced that the industrial output declined by over 9% on last year.
In the same meeting, it was noted that the region’s pension fund fails to collect a part of the incomes owing to the diminution of foreign trade as well. All the pensions and allowances for July were paid with external loans, but this fund will have a large deficit towards this yearend if the situation does not improve.
