The Foreign Ministers of the UK, Poland, and Sweden - William Hague, Radosław Sikorski, and Carl Bildt – will pay a working visit to the Republic of Moldova, for the first time in this trilateral format, at the invitation of their counterpart Iurie Leanca. “This visit in trilateral format, which will take place in a significant year for the Republic of Moldova, confirms the support of the UK, Poland, and Sweden for the European approaches of Moldova, which enters the last stage of the talks on the Association Agreement with the EU,” reads a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. It should be noted that this will be the first visit in the history of the bilateral Moldovan-British relations by a British official of such a ranking, Moldova being the first member state of the Eastern Partnership that will be visited by the foreign minister of the UK. The visit was scheduled for February 18-19.
