Foreign minister points out priorities at meeting with ambassadors of EU countries

“We are determined to form an efficient team to advance in our objectives both at foreign level and at domestic level,” Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said at a meeting with resident ambassadors of EU member states. He spoke about the process of distributing the duties between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bureau for European Integration, IPN reports.

The dialogue on Moldova’s accession to the European Union will remain a top priority for the Moldovan diplomatic service. “While holding office, I will focus on strengthening an active, present and visible diplomatic service. The traditional bilateral partnerships will be a benchmark in foreign cooperation, complemented by the strengthening of dialogue with states from geographical areas of interest where Moldova does not have a sufficiently pronounced presence,” stated the official.

Mihai Popșoi noted the ambassadors’ support provided to Moldova in difficult times, as well as the contribution made by the states they represent to the initiation of negotiations for Moldova’s accession to the European Union.

The duties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration are divided between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bureau for European Integration, which are headed by Deputy Prime Ministers Mihai Popșoi and Cristina Gerasimov, the latter also serving as Moldova’s chief negotiator in the European integration process.
