In two months the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will have a competent diplomatic personnel, from attache to head of mission, as the Ministry reforms in the wake of the recent wave of ambassadorial recalls, Foreign Ministry Iurie Leanca told a meeting with reporters on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. Iurie Leanca said a group for professional evaluation has been recently set up at the MFA, which is to employ personnel following “transparent and meritocratic” criteria, rather than “Byzantine, opaque (criteria) used until recently”. “Eight years were lost not only as regards the consistency of the foreign policy, but also as regards concrete accomplishments. During those years, the MFA had been transformed into a mere executor of some decisions taken elsewhere”, declared Leanca. Since the installation of the Filat Government, a number of Moldovan ambassadors have been recalled for the reason that they “were discrediting the international reputation of Moldova”.
