Foreign guests to attend Chisinau Day celebrations

Two mayors, 3 vice-mayors, and civil servants from European capitals are expected to attend the main fete of the R. of Moldova’s capital – Chisinau Day. Local authorities from Targoviste, Suceava, Bucharest municipality (Romania), Vilnius (Lithuania), and Montesilvano (Italy) announced their arriving. Chief of International Relations Department of the Municipality, Ion Capatana, told Info-Prim Neo that there are also expected delegations from Minsk (Belarus), Kiev and Odessa (Ukraine), Ankara (Turkey), Tel-Aviv (Israel), Lubuskie Province (Poland). Moscow will de represented by the astronaut Iuri Ghidzenko, who has studied in one of Chisinau’s schools and who will be awarded the Diploma and Ribbon of Chisinau’s Citizen of Honor. On September 13 the foreign delegations will meet the leadership of the City Hall. A Cooperation Agreement with Vilnius city and an Intention Protocol Agreement with Montesilvano town will be signed; also a draft Agreement with Lubuskie Province will be initialed. Afterwards, the guest will be invited to visit Milestii Mici cellars. The next day Interim Mayor Vasile Ursu will throw a party at Codru Hotel. On the whole, 90 persons were invited to the Chisinau Day celebrations, and 46 already confirmed their arriving. The costs of hosting the guests total to almost MDL 1 mln. At present, Chisinau has 11 fraternized towns, and has partnership and cooperation relations with 16 others.
