Foreign exchange reserves up over US$ 4m in a month

The foreign exchange reserves at the end of last year were US$3.059,63 billion, up US$4.09 million compared with November 29, 2019, when these totaled US$ 3.055,54 billion, IPN reports, with reference to the National Bank of Moldova.

The rise was due to the appreciation of the currencies included in the foreign exchange reserves against the US dollar (US$ 17.10m). Also, there were transferred loans and grants to the value of US$4.72 million in favor of the Ministry of Finance for investment projects.

The revenues from managing the foreign exchange reserves of US$ 3.75 million and the net inflows of US$ 0.98 million also made a contribution to the rise.

The diminution of the foreign exchange reserves in the period was influenced by the Ministry of Finance’s payments of US$18.13 million, net outflows afferent to the mandatory foreign currency reserves of the licensed banks of US$ 2.09 million, the payments made to service Moldova’s external public debt of UD$ 1.96 million and the reevaluation of securities in the investment portfolio to the value of US$ 0.28 million.
