The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova addressed a verbal note to the Embassy of Russia in Chisinau by which the Russian authorities are warned to stop to illegally recruit Moldovans to join the Russian armed forces, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry says that it invoked the recent recruitment actions in Ternovca village of Slobozia district and other similar cases reported earlier. It reiterated the official position of the Moldovan authorities that such actions run counter to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, to the norms and principles of the international law and to the bilateral Moldovan-Russian agreements, in particular the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between Moldova and Russia.
In this connection, there were reiterated the requests of Chisinau to withdraw the Russian troops and munitions from Moldova’s territory and to transform the current peacekeeping operation into a multinational civil mission with an international mandate.
