The forces of the left have more chances to win the presidential elections of this autumn as they are more united, while the forced of the right are split. The issue was discussed in the talk show “In depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

Director of the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS Doru Petrutsi considers the future President will represent the opposition parties because polls show that the leaders of these parties are the favorites. The credibility of the Liberal Party decreased, as did the credibility of the Liberal Democratic Party and its leaders and it is highly improbable that this will increase. Current Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca and the leader of the European People’s Party Iurie Leanca also lost a lot.

“Thus, on the segment of the left, Igor Dodon does not have opponents. On the segment of the right, there will be at least five candidates for President. We also see that Dodon refrains from speaking about the Customs Union so as to attract more votes. But things will change a lot when the elections come closer,” stated Doru Petrutsi.   

Director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” Igor Munteanu considers the designation of a common candidate by the forces of the right is improbable. “We don’t know how the political groups of Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase will integrate. They could face particular problems because those who control particular institutions often threatened to start criminal cases and to use old schemes. There are many votes that oscillate between the Platform “Dignity and Truth” and the Action and Solidarity Party. The voters of Renato Usatyi could be caught between the center and the right. For the Democratic Parry, winning the elections is not so important. I think this party will place its own people on the left and on the right so as to maintain its positions,” he stated.

The presidential elections were set for October 30, 2016.
