Force of War Veterans for Nation and Country urges veterans not to join Sept. 11 protest

Members of the public association “Force of War Veterans for Nation and Country” urge war veterans not to participate in the protest set to take place on September 11 in the Great National Assembly Square. They call on the war veterans to show maturity and not to allow to be manipulated by those who want to divide society.

In a news conference hosted by IPN, Andrei Eremia, vice-chairman of the “Force of War Veterans for Nation and Country” Movement, said that the goal of the organizers of the September 11 protest is to destabilize the veterans’ community and cause unrest in society. “Dear veterans, beware of who is calling you, where they are calling you and what their purpose is. The time has come to learn to identify them. And when they come to you, to your villages, to your districts, inform us. We will keep an eye on those who want to destabilize us, want us to confront each other. We are against any confrontation between us, the veterans. That’s why we urge you to stay calm, to respect each other,” stated Andrei Eremia.

Vladimir Buga, leader of the local organization “Force of War Veterans for Nation and Country” in Nisporeni, encouraged the veterans from this locality and the veterans from the entire republic to show political maturity, stressing that silence is now needed and anti-state protests should be avoided.

“We say a categorical “No” to these protests and we call on the entire society, the diaspora - I know that there are many esteemed veterans in the diaspora, in England, Belgium, France, Spain, everywhere – not to yield to provocations. Let’s be united. Let’s pursue a policy of stability in this country because only through stability, through unity, we can overcome all challenges,” stated the head of the Cahul local organization Alexandru Andronic.

The leader of the Ștefan Vodă local organization Ion Zubco said it is obvious that there are political parties behind the group that organizes the protest and these want to destabilize the situation in the country as on April 7, 2009. “We, the war veterans who fought for the independence and integrity of the Republic of Moldova, ask the law enforcement agencies, such as the police, the SIS (Security and Intelligence Service, e.n.)) and other bodies that maintain public order to take an attitude towards these veterans whose actions lead to destabilization and who promote the policy of a foreign state in the Republic of Moldova,” noted Ion Zubco.

The representative of the Cantemir local organization Iurii Tabac said that there are veterans who fought for this country and who are patriots, but there are also people who are not interested in the Republic of Moldova and pursue only their own interests.

The member of the Nisporeni local organization Oleg Romanciuc encouraged the veterans to take a serious stance and make a clear distinction between real war veterans and those who claim that they are veterans.

The members of the public association said that they plead for a stable life and for a European path for the Republic of Moldova.
