“Force of Farmers” seeks return to mechanism for refunding excise duties on bought diesel fuel

Representatives of the public association “Force of Farmers” demand to urgently introduce the special margin on the wholesale sale of oil products of at most 1.5 lei per liter in the legislation. They also ask to restore the mechanism for refunding excise duties on the purchased diesel fuel to farmers, IPN reports.

The association said that owning to the rise in profit margin and excise duties, the prices of diesel fuel grew significantly. The farmers continue to be discriminated in the process of selling oil products needed for farming works.

“Currently, for unknown reasons, there is practically no difference between the retail and wholesale prices of diesel fuel. This is against all the commercial practices. Even if the price of diesel fuel, when it is sold wholesale, is not influenced by the costs associated with the transportation of fuel to filling stations, salaries of pump operators and local taxes, the agricultural producers are forced to purchase diesel fuel in large amounts without a reduction typical of wholesale,” the association noted in a statement.

It also said that the farmers entered the new year without a framework law on subsidization, without regulations with support measures for the agricultural sector and, implicitly, without certainty concerning the refund of excise duties on the bought diesel fuel. As a result, the burden of the costs of agricultural production will grow.
