The “Force of Farmers” Association demands to refund the VAT to agricultural producers all over the Republic of Moldova. According to representatives of the Association, the local fiscal services in most of the districts refuse to implement the law, invoking the implementation mechanism is absent, while the Ministry of Finance has two months at its disposal to work out the regulations. Therefore, the farmers call on the Government and Parliament to intervene so that the law becomes functional all over the country, IPN reports.

According to farmers, the fiscal institutions in districts, instead of refunding the money to farmers, continue to withdraw money from farmers’ accounts even if the taxes and contributions related to the salary can be automatically paid with the VAT available in the account.

Fiscal bodies take such actions even if the law on VAT refund was adopted on December 8. According to representatives of the “Force of Farmers”, the new law is almost identical to the law of 2020 and problems in its immediate implementation shouldn’t be encountered. Moreover, the farmers describe the lack of regulations for implementing the law and of an unequivocal position on this law in the local fiscal bodies as sabotage. Such actions by the state represent one more blow to the agricultural sector that has been seriously affected by the multiple crises.

For the farmers from all the country’s districts to benefit from the law on VAT refund, the Association “Force of Farmers” requests the Government and Parliament to intervene so that the law produces immediate effects.
