For the first time, a waste sorting station will be built in Chisinau

A station with a sorting line, unique for waste management infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova, will be built in the capital by the end of next year. The project is worth about 8 million euro. The announcement was made by Igor Girlea, the acting director of the Self-Sanitation Regie, in the "Chisinau Live" podcast, IPN reports.

"We will have a so-called waste island", the head of the Regia said. He added that the station will be able to collect all types of waste - electronic, household appliances, vegetable and other types, which will then be distributed for recycling.

There will also be a waste sorting line with an annual capacity of 4 thousand tons.

Next to the transfer station, 15 hectares of land will be reserved for the construction of a recycling center. The land transfer procedure is in the process of finalization, the head of the Regie Autosalubritate assured.

The station is at the final design stage. Construction work will start in early 2025. This project is the largest investment in waste management infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova.
