President Maia Sandu does not take part in the public events planned for May 9 for health reasons. The meeting and the joint news conference with UN Secretary-General António Guterres were annulled. The conference will be held in the Government’s Building together with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.

In the morning of May 9, the advisers to the President laid flowers at the Memorial Complex “Eternity” in Chisinau. “The presidential team this way commemorated, together with colleagues from the country’s Government and Parliament, all those who died in World War II, rendered homage to the veterans, honoring their sacrifice and devotion, and celebrated peace on Europe Day,” the Presidential press service has said.
