“If we want to have a prosperous society, we should do more for the preschool education. The education starts from the kindergarten and family,” said Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the head of Chisinau's Education Direction, at an international symposium in preschool education. The event was attended by delegates from Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria and Russia, who've also visited nurseries in Chisinau. “At least in Chisinau we saw things not seen in Romania. The staff network is more diverse. We've met music, sports teachers,” Adriana Manolache, a school inspector from Romania, mentioned among others. “Still the kindergarten educations are better paid in Romania than in Moldova,” she added. The money problem, the lack of places in kindergartens affects the system in all those four countries, the delegates found. “We stimulate the entrepreneurs to develop private kindergartens. The town hall offers money to educate 3-4 more children to parents deciding to educate their own child,” said Andres Pajulas, the head of Tallinn's Education Department. Neither Moscow has sufficient kindergartens. “The day centers are a solution for the parents having to stay with their kids at home. The parents can leave their children for several hours there,” said Ludmila Samoilenko, the director of the Preschool Department from Moscow. As the nursery teachers started to leave Moldova seeking better-paid jobs abroad, the parents started to collect money to help the remaining educators. The symposium will adopt a declaration on its works ending Friday.
