Foods and physical exercises are recommended in post-COVID-19 recovery

Healthy eating and moderate physical activity are essential at the post-COVID-19 recovery stage. Specialists recommend eating diversified food without excesses and practicing sport for breathing reeducation, IPN reports.

In an online webinar staged by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, expert in clinical and community nutrition Victoria Ursu said pure, filtered or bottled water helps to eliminate post-inflammatory toxins, ensures the transportation of nutrients and metabolites, regulates body temperature. It is not recommended drinking coffee or liquids that contain caffeine, acidulated or sweetened juices and alcohol. It is indicated drinking fresh juices that can be sweetened with honey combined with superfoods and verdures. After medical treatment, the patients need to drink teas to detoxify liver, primarily from raspberry, blackberry, sea buckthorn, dandelion. It is not recommended eating food that can cause inflation, such as sugar, yeast-based and pickled products.

Rehabilitation expect Alisa Tăbîrță, doctor of medical sciences of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said progressive physical exercises can help in breathing reeducation, cardiovascular and respiratory adaptation to effort and fortification of resistance and general muscular strength after suffering from COVID-19. A specialist can help work out a progressive exercises program and monitor its implementation. If headaches, dizziness and nausea appear while training, the exercises should be interrupted.
