Food for schools and kindergartens checked every morning
Officials of the Chisinau district education divisions every morning will examine the food products intended for schools and kindergartens, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda Tverdohleb said in Monday’s meeting of the City Hall, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Tverdohleb said the decision was made in a meeting with representatives of the Public Procurement Agency, after thousands of pea jars with the expired shelf life, which were to be distributed to kindergartens, had been found in a storehouse.
The heads of the district education divisions will be obliged to check the vehicles that convey the food products. As to the company that was to supply old peas, Tatiana Nagnibeda Tverdohleb said it had a contract with the schools and kindergartens working in Durlesti town.
Constantin Ramis, the head of the Municipal Center of Preventive Medicine, said samples of peas are now being examined. “A part of the labels did not contain the period of validity. There was indicated the date and month, not yet the year,” he said.
Lilian Carp, adviser to the Mayor of Chisinau, said the companies that commit violations will not be allowed to take part in public tender contests and will be included in the black list.
