Folk music orchestra “Folklore” marks 50 years of foundation

The folk music orchestra “Folklore” led by Petre Neamţu celebrates the 50th anniversary of its foundation. On this occasion, a jubilee concert was given at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” in Chisinau on September 27, IPN reports.

In a festivity, Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc said the contribution made by the orchestra “Folklore” to promoting the traditional music and to keeping the folkloric heritage in Moldova is inestimable. She underlined the role played by first conductor Petre Neamțu in creating the orchestra with which he identifies himself and makes the country famous abroad.

In appreciation, the minister conferred the Government’s Diploma of the first level on the folk music orchestra “Folklore” and first conductor Petre Neamţu for excellence in creation, artistic skillfulness, promotion of the authentic cultural values and on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the foundation.

Diplomas of honor of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research were also awarded to artists who worked as part of the orchestra during the 50 years, namely to Andrei Bivol, Anatol Golomoz, Anatol Nunu, Aurel Berejan, Gavriil Gronic, Larisa Fedosova, Vasile Iovu, Vasile Gavriliță, Vasile Rusu and Sorin Zberea.

The folk music orchestra “Folklore” was founded by Dumitru Blajinu in 1968. Since 1985, this has been managed by Petre Neamțu as the artistic director.
