Fly One plane returns to airport

An aircraft of Fly One airline running on the Heraklion-Chisinau route with 170 passengers on board landed back after taking off from the Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” on Crete island on July 2. All the passengers were safe and were provided with accommodation and food, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the airline.

It happened after the plane’s command system issued a warning signal and additional checks had to be thus carried out. “Though it is an unexpected situation, a standard procedure is applied in such a case to ensure the security of passengers and aviation safety. Thus, the plane’s crew, which is a professional one, decided to return to the airport where the aircraft was subject to an additional technical inspection,” says the press release.

The 170 passengers are to arrive in Chisinau on July 3.

According to a passenger, quoted by the portal protv.md, the plane took off at midday on July 2. After an hour, the pilot announced that the plane would fly back, invoking problems with the front chassis. “During the flight, they released some compressed air and many people got scared as they thought it was smoke,” said the passenger.

The images on the website Flight Radar, which enables to see data about air traffic in real time, show that the plane made several circles above the sea and then returned to the island. Passengers complained that they got stuck at the airport in Heraklion and didn’t know when they would be taken to Chisinau.
