A number of flute players and ensembles will take part in the eighth national contest and festival “The Nistru with silent water” on July 24. The event is organized by the National Center for Conservation and Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Culture and Tourism Division Criuleni and the Corjova mayor’s office, IPN reports.

The festival starts at 11am with the parade of participants in the center of Corjova village. The event will be officially opened at 12 noon. A number of recitals will be given starting at 2pm. The festival will include exhibitions of handicrafts.

The festival will involve players and ensembles from Volintiri and Carahasani villages of Stefan Voda districts, Soroca, Causeni, Basarabeasca, and Oxentea of Dubasari, Rascani, Edinet and others. Recitals will be given by the folk music singers Gheorghe Nichiforeac, Luciana Spanu, and Tudor Ungureanu, the band “Stefan Vodă” and others.
