Over 100 Chisinau municipal councilors and civil servants, headed by mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, laid flowers to the monument to Stephen the Great and Holy in the morning of October 14, the Day of Chisinau's Patron Saint, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dorin Chirtoaca and his office were the first to lay the wreaths followed by the chairman of the Municipal Council, Eduard Musuc, accompanied by Christian-Democrats' faction leader Alexandru Corduneanu and the Social Democrats' faction leader Emil Gutu. They were followed by official guests of Chisinau. The Chisinau civil servants and councilors neglected the dense fog surrounding the morning Chisinau and started to congratulate one another on the occasion of the City Day. The event had its incidents. Before the official appeared, the cleaning workers noticed some flowers planted on the eve near the monument were awkwardly missing. So they planted immediately new flowers instead. According to their manager, Lidia Babara, the gesture should be construed as a lapse of culture of some Chisinau residents. After laying the wreaths the deputation headed towards God's Birth Cathedral to attend the divine service.
