Five men are suspected of committing at least nine burglaries in several districts in the central region of the country, which amount to a prejudice of over 500 000 lei. The General Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday, November 8, that the suspects are being criminally investigated.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office press release, the crimes were committed over the course of the months of September and October of the current year, in the districts of Hâncești, Cimișlia, Ialoveni and Strășeni. Three suspects were detained for 72 hours. The other two are investigated at large.

The suspects are aged between 18 and 26 years and have previously committed offences. They were previously convicted for theft.

According to prosecutors, the burglars were mainly stealing money and golden items from people's homes by forcing windows or doors.
