A girl of five from Leova town went into a coma after her father punched and kicked her while inebriated. Vice director of the Leova District Hospital Mariana Semeniuc has told Info-Prim Neo that the girl was unconscious when she was brought to the hospital. The child has been in a coma for four days ago and may remain alive only if she is taken to Chisinau. However, the national service “Aviasan” decided that the child will not be taken to Chisinau as the roads are in a bad state and the transportation can have fatal consequences for the girl. The child is on life support. “If we reduce the dose of cardiotonics that maintain her heart, the blood pressure decreases suddenly and there appears bradycardia. She is in a serious condition. But the children sometimes can survive inexplicably,” said Mariana Semeniuc. She also said that only the service “Aviasan” possesses reanimobiles with artificial respiration apparatus by which the girl can be transported. A neurologist and a reanimatologist of the service examined the child and said that she was in a very serious state and cannot be taken to Chisinau. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Nicolae Frunza, vice director of the National Clinical Hospital that manages “Aviasan”, and the neurologist of “Aviasan” Nadejda Scerbina refused to talk about this case. Doctor Lidia Dolghier, who discussed with specialists of “Aviasan”, said the girl is suffering from brain death. “The roads are in a very bad state and there is a very great danger that the child will not survive transportation,” she stated. Director of the Mother and Child Center Stefan Gatcan told Info-Prim Neo that the decision to transport persons in a serious condition is taken by the reanimatologist. “In some cases it is better not to move the person and prepare him for surgery. But we are anytime ready to admit this child,” he said. Rodica Scutelnic, of the Health Ministry, said the girl receives the necessary care and will be brought to Chisinau when her condition is stable. Now the child can be transported only with the parents’ consent. The incident happened four days ago. The girl’s father came home under the influence and started to beat the child who was making noise. She remained to lie on the floor. Her brother called an ambulance only in five hours.
