A girl aged five was struck mortally by a minibus running on route No. 120. The accident happened near the South Bus Station in the afternoon of July 4. According to the Police Division, the girl, who was from Hancesti town, died in the hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the child was crossing the street at a crosswalk. She was going to her mother, who works as a seller near the bus station.

Interviewed by Publica TV, the girl’s father, who came later to the place of the accident, related another version. The man said that his wife told him that she went out of the given minibus and was crossing the street with their younger daughter in her arms and with the other daughter aged five going near her, holding her arm. The woman shouted to the driver to stop, but it was too late.

The minibus was driven by a man aged 37 from Soroca district. He was arrested for 72 hours and faces three to seven years in jail.

The police said the driver of the minibus running on route No.155, which was involved in an accident at the intersection of the streets Mihai Eminescu and Shchusev in which 13 passengers were hurt, was also put under arrest for 72 hours. He also faces three to seven years behind bars.
