A child aged five and his father from Glinjeni village of Falesti district died in a fire in their house. Villagers saw the flames and called the firefighters, but it was too late. Diana Turcan, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-PrimNeo that the tragedy happened in the evening of February 8. When the firefighters arrived, the roof of the house and two rooms were burning. The child and the man of 38 could not be saved. The whereabouts of the child’s mother when the fire started are not yet known. According to preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by hot coals that fell out of the stove. The 157 fires that happened so far this year resulted in 26 deaths. Three of the victims were children. The firefighters warn that the door of the stove must be closed when the fire is burning and a metal plate should be placed on the floor, near the stove, so as to avoid fires that can be caused by hot coals that fell out.
