Five villages in northern Moldova isolated by heavy snowfall
Five villages in the northern districts remain isolated as the heavy snowfall and the blizzard blocked the access roads to them.
Dragos Turea, press officer of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, has told Info-Prim Neo that two of the villages are situated in Sangerei district, another two villages in Floresti district, while one village is from Falesti district. Dozens of snowplows have been involved in the cleanup.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said that no vehicles are now blocked in snowdrifts, but the rescuers evacuated about 50 units of transport on Monday. According to preliminary data, there are no settlements disconnected from the power supply.
As the roads remain icy, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service warns the motorists to drive carefully and to outfit the vehicles with a spade and sand so as to cope with the conditions that can appear. In case of emergency, they must call 901.
