Five TV channels sanctioned for ad placement violations
The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) has imposed fines and public warnings on five TV channels for exceeding the time limits allowed for advertising and for placing covert advertising, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The representative of the channels Publika TV and Muz TV cited systemic errors, assuring that they were removed. The representative of the channel N4 stated that the violations were due to contractual breaches on the part of those who ordered the ads. Also, N4 included public service announcements within its commercial breaks, and as a result the monitoring showed that the time span allowed for advertising had been violated.
BCC chair Marian Pocaznoi recommended broadcasters to exclude public service ads from commercial breaks because the monitoring software is calculating the overall time.
Under the relevant legislation, TV advertising must not exceed 12 minutes during one hour of programming.
