The road fund should be increased at least five times for the roads in Chisinau to be extensively repaired. The investments should be yet ten times higher if a ring road, two-level streets, viaducts and new links are to be built.

When presenting the progress report for last year, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that ten streets were repaired in the capital city in the period between 2007 and 2012. The budget for performing road maintenance works was raised two times, but the sums are insufficient.

“The investments grew from zero to several hundred million lei a year. The repair of the streets A. Russo, Negruzzi, V. Alecsandri and Stefan cel Mare si Sfant cost 300 million lei. If we manage to augment the budget for roads annually, we will have more such infrastructure projects under implementation in the municipality. I think this is possible,” said the mayor, quoted by IPN.

Dorin Chirtoaca called on the people to be patient as nowhere in the world did they repair all the streets in parallel.
