The police arrested five persons suspected of involvement in the murder of a taxi driver two weeks ago. The men are aged between 24 and 31, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the General Police Commissariat. The tragedy happened on the night of March 13. The body of the 32-year-old driver was found near a park in Botanica district with 54 knife stabs in the back, neck and head. According to one of the versions, the suspects wanted to rob the driver. As he put up resistance, they killed him. The offenders stole the victim’s wallet with 900 lei, his identification papers and the car keys. Echimie Cotelea, PR specialist at the General Police Commissariat, said that the suspects are drug users. They are also suspected of committing a number of thefts. The five culprits face 20 to 25 years in jail or life imprisonment.
