Five persons died and other two were injured in traffic accidents occurred on Sunday due to excessive speed. According to MAI Press Center, on Sunday morning on the roadway Chisinau-Ungheni, near Calarasi town, the motorist aged 22 driving a “Volkswagen-Passat” lost steering control and hit a tree. As result of the impact, Vitalie Maimescu aged 24, inhabitant of the village Sipoteni, district Calarasi, Oxana Vizitiu, inhabitant of the town Ungheni, and Ion Novac of the town Floresti, both aged 22, students of the Medicine University of the city Iasi, Romania, have died. The driver and another passenger, aged 22, were hospitalized with different traumas in the therapy section of the district hospital of Calarasi. In the morning of the same day, another traffic accident took place on the roadway Chisinau-Soroca, near the village Peresecina. A woman aged 31 driving with excessive speed a “Volkswagen-Golf” car lost steering control and hit a pedestrian. The woman died. Another tragedy happened on the motorway near the village Isnovat, district Criuleni. Around 11.00, a young man from the same district, driving a “Ford-Escort”, lost steering control and turned over. He died later. Since the beginning of the year, 1,426 persons became victims of traffic accidents, 153 of them have died, and 1,237 persons were seriously injured.
