Five persons arrested for selling in Moldova drugs bought in France

Two women and three men were arrested on drug distribution charges. They are suspected of selling in Moldova Subutex psychotropic pills purchased in France.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, in June the investigation officers arrested a man aged 39 from Hâncești district, who received a parcel delivered from France by a minibus running on a regular route. A number of 500 pills with the commercial name Subutex were found in the parcel as a result of searches.

Later, there was identified another man aged 39 living in the municipality of Chisinau, whose task was to distribute packs with drugs to persons who sold the pills. As many as 280 Subutex and Deazipex pills and a number of doses of marijuana were found and seized during searches.

Three more persons – two women and a man – whose role was to sell drugs to consumers, were arrested later. In total, the police seized over 1,000 psychotropic pills estimated at about 900,000 lei.

The suspects face 7 to 15 years in jail for illegal distribution of drugs, ethno-botanicals and analogues and for smuggling.
