The police on March 12 carried out large-scale operations in northern districts after establishing that a number of persons were involved in the commission of serious and very serious offenses, such as thefts, burglaries and murders that were coordinated from penitentiaries. Searches were also performed at several national jails.
According to the police, there were conducted over 30 operations that covered the penitentiaries in Cricova, Soroca, Balti and Brănești. General Police Inspectorate press officer Mariana Bețivu has told IPN that five persons were arrested for 72 hours. Other details will be made public tomorrow, March 13.
The National Administration of Penitentiaries said the police seized the banned objects found at detainees during searches.
