A 57-year-old man set off a grenade in Hirova village, Calarasi district. Five people were injured in the explosion that occurred today, at around 1:00 p.m.

Police spokesperson Mariana Bețivu told IPN that for now yet known where the man got the grenade from and what caused him to detonate it.

Update / 17: 16 /: Mariana Beţivu revealed that the man detonated the grenade around his home out of jealousy. It was preliminarily determined that it was an F-1  anti-personnel hand grenade and the man held it illegally.

The man, his 38-year-old wife, and three other people have been hospitalized, with the perpetrator in critical condition.

The police searched the man’s house and found a hunting gun and ammunition that he illegally possessed.
