Five pedestrians struck in road accidents, two perish

Five pedestrians were struck by motor vehicles in Moldova on Thursday evening. Two of them died on the spot. One of the victims, a 35-year-old woman, was stuck by a car in Măgdăcești village of Criuleni district when she was crossing the street legally, at the crosswalk, IPN reports.

Another fatal impact occurred in Strășeni district. A 74-year-old man was hit by a car when he was jaywalking.

A woman aged 45 was struck in Tohatin when she was allegedly jaywalking. She was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state.

Another incident happened on Petru Rareș St in Chisinau. A man driving a Honda car struck a woman aged 80. A teenage girl aged 15 was hit on Alba Iulia St. She suffered injuries.

The string of road accidents comes after a ten-year-old boy was struck fatally by a car on Dacia Blvd, close to the Airport, two weeks ago.

The police said road filters were set up at a number of locations in the capital city given the higher number of road traffic violations that endanger the life and health of citizens.
