Five pedestrians injured in road accidents in Chisinau during one day
Five pedestrians were struck by cars in Chisinau on Friday, April 30. Among the victims was a doctor who was hit by a police car in a crosswalk. This happens at a time when the traffic police conduct the operation “The Pedestrian” to prevent the road accidents and make the drivers and pedestrians more responsible, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Chisinau Ambulance Service, a 27-year-old woman was struck by a car on Calea Basarabiei St. She was taken to the hospital with a cranial-cerebral trauma, a concussion and contusion of the knee.
A man aged 70 was hit by a car in a crosswalk on Dacia Blvd. He got his shank fractured.
A 33-year-old man was hospitalized with the same diagnosis after he was struck by a minibus on Hancesti St. Eyewitnesses said it was a minibus running on route and the driver did not stop. The police are investigating the case.
An inebriated man aged 30 was talking on the phone when he was hit by a car at the intersection of Stefan cel Mare Blvd. and Tighina St close to midnight. He suffered a knee injury.
The 341 traffic accidents that happened in Chisinau since the start of this year resulted in 22 deaths and 419 persons injured.
