If parliamentary elections were held in Moldova next Sunday, five parties would enter the legislative body after them. The Communist Party (PCRM) would poll 23.4% of the vote, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – 18.6%, the Democratic Party (PDM) – 10.7%, while the Liberal Party – 6.3%, shows a poll commissioned by IPN News Agency to the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS. IMAS head Doru Petruti said a novelty is the fact that a party that would be headed by politician Renato Usatyi would gain 6.7% of the poll and would thus pass the election threshold of 6%.

The Party of Socialists would not enter Parliament as it would win only 2.8% of the vote. The People’s Movement “Antimafie” would garner 1.4% of the poll, while the Liberal Reformist Party – 0.9%. 13% of the respondents said they haven’t yet decided, while 14% didn’t want to say who they would vote for.

In the news conference held to present the results, Doru Petruti told the journalists that the poll was carried out based on an American methodology that takes into account the answers of the respondents determined to take part in the elections.

Asked about the accomplishments of parties, most of the respondents said the PCRM takes care of the pensioners the most, the PLDM brought Moldova closer to the EU, while the PDM focuses mainly on the support of families and women’s problems.

Asked if they are decided to take part in this autumn’s elections, 53% of the respondents said they will definitely take part, 25% said they are almost sure they will take part, while 21% said they will probably go to the polls.

The poll covered a representative sample of 1,032 people older than 18 from 71 settlements and was conducted between September 5 and 22. The margin of sampling error is plus-minus 3%.
