As a result of discussions that consisted of several rounds, representatives of the Liberal Reformist Party, the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova, the National Liberal Party, the Green Ecologist Party and the Party “Democracy at Home” decided by secret vote to nominate Vitalia Pavlichenko as an independent pro-European and unionist candidate for President of Moldova, IPN reports.
On her blog, Vitalia Pavlichenko, who heads the National Liberal Party, says that realizing the worsening situation in Moldova, the collapse of democracy, the non-independent justice, the populism promoted by the ostensible pro-European governments and endemic corruption, the five parties came together for discussions to agree a durable project, banking on a political and electoral partnership and on a merger.
To run in the elections, a candidate must collect at least 15,000 signatures in his support. The deadline is September 29. The signatures are collected based on subscription lists issued by the CEC after registering the initiative group.
