About 200 orphans and children from socially vulnerable families until the end of October will be selected for a summer vacation in Crimea. The project is supported by the charity foundation “Clipa Siderală”. According to the project manager Natalia Antoci, the children will be chosen with the help of social assistants and officials of mayors’ offices. The children aged between 8 and 16 will spend two weeks in Crimea during two sessions and will have the possibility of making new friends. Last year, 40% of the selected children could not go to Crimea because they did not have passports, Natalia Antoci said. The local authorities committed themselves to covering the costs of making documents, but a number of families spent the money on something else. The summer camp “Sparta” houses orphans and children from socially vulnerable families from Moldova the12th consecutive year. The unique conditions of Crimea enable them to increase their knowledge and improve their health, Natalia Antoci said. The costs of organizing the rest of a child vary between 210 and 400 euros. Twenty-six children went to Crimea in 2007. A child can rest in Crimea as part of the project only once.
