Five NGOs implement IT projects with WB grants
Five nongovernmental organizations of Moldova benefited from financing within a Small Grants Program of the World Bank. It is a novelty for the WB that the program’s funds are used for projects to implement information technology and provide electronic services for the population. The previous years, the grants were given for developing the civil society organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on Friday, Victor Neagu, PR manager at the World Bank Office in Moldova, said the projects that benefited from grants to the value of US$8,000 were selected by contest out of 40 e-applications.
The contest was held in concert with the e-Government Center, which awarded encouragement prizes to another three NGOs, acquired with support from a number of companies working in the area.
All the projects were completed. World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Abdoulaye Seck said the achieved results show that goods things that benefit the people can be sometimes done with few resources.
Within the projects, there were created an electronic school library, an information portal on small businesses, a portal on the situation of waters in Moldova, and a portal with the map and ratings of the kindergartens in Chisinau. In Orhei, there was set up an online center for informing the economic entities and people how to obtain construction authorizations.
