Five more applicants went through to the national stage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 besides the 25 contenders selected earlier. These are: Pavel Turcu, the band Brand, Doinita Gherman, Mbeyeline and the band Todo. There were 83 applicants overall, Info-Prim Neo reports. The five applicants were selected during the Second Chance stage held between January 29 and February 14 by SMS voting. The additional stage was held because there was a large number of applications for participation and the public expressed an increased interest, the organizers of the national Eurovision contest told a news conference on February 15. By 15 contenders will compete in the two semifinals of the contest. Fourteen singers will go through to the final, by seven from each semifinal. The first semifinal will take place on February 27, the second semifinal on February 28, while the final on March 6. The head of the organizational committee Vitalie Cojocaru said the votes polled by each of the contender through SMS voting will be made public after the national final so as not to influence the televoting results. The jury will be set up during the concert and will be composed of five members that will be different at every concert. The final decision will be based on the decision of the jury and on televoting, equally. On February 15, the national TV channel will launch the program “Together at Eurovision”, where all the participants of the semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 will be presented. The program will be aired from Monday to Friday, starting at 18.45. Moldova will take part in the first Eurovision semifinal on May 25.
