Five more persons suspected of stealing money from bank cards were arrested. The police said one of the suspects is holding an executive post at one of Moldova’s penitentiaries, IPN reports.
The Chisinau Police Division said the five persons are aged between 24 and 42. The police carried out 13 authorized searches in the municipality and in the penitentiary where one of the suspects worked.
There was found and seized 1.3 million lei. Five cars belonging to the suspects were also confiscated. The persons risk maximum jail terms of eight years. They were remanded in custody for 30 days.
In the middle of February, the police announced that they started a criminal case featuring12 persons who are suspected of credit card frauds. Two of the suspects, who are presumably the organizers, are serving time in jail, while another suspect holds a managerial post at a jail in Moldova.
