Five Moldovan children repatriated from Russia
Five Moldovan children that remained without parental care in Russia were repatriated on June 12, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the information and communication service of the representative office of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des hommes” in Moldova.
The repatriated children are aged between two months and 14 years. Two of them were abandoned at birth. Another two aged 2 and 4 were found begging in the street, while a 14-year-old child could be trafficked.
The minors will be accommodated temporarily at the Placement and Rehabilitation Center for Children of Early Age of the Ministry of Health, while one child will be placed in the Chisinau Assistance and Protection Center. Afterward, they will be reintegrated into the extended families.
The repatriation was carried out by observing the procedure for identifying, protecting, repatriating and reintegrating the children worked out and promoted by the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, “Terre des hommes” and Russian partners. The mission was carried out under the Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 25, 2007 between the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, UNICEF in Moldova and the representative office of the Swiss Foundation “Terre des hommes”.
