Five ministers to be replaced today

Prime Minister Ion Chicu on November 9 will propose new candidates for minister instead of five current ministers who were delegated by the Democratic Party. The official made the announcement after the ordinary meeting of senior state officials, IPN reports.

There will be replaced Igor Sharov, Minister of Education, Culture and Research; Sergiu Railean, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure; Alexandru Pînzari, Minister of Defense; Cristina Lesnic, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, and Oleg Țulea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, who last week tendered his resignation following his appointment as Moldova’s Ambassador to Hungary.

Ion Chicu said he took note of the Democratic Party’s decision, but he cannot accept the five ministers to leave the Government at a particular stage given the “very difficult conditions” in which the country is now. “It is a very difficult stage. We are drafting and approving the budgets for next year and the ministries should be maximally functional. We cannot allow uncertainty and political involvement in the Government’s work,” stated the official.

The president of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip on November 7 announced that after the investiture of the President that is to be elected on November 15, the PDM will withdraw its representatives from the Government so as to enable this to efficiently cooperate with the legislature in accordance with the constitutional provisions and the people’s vote.
