Five medical institutions in Chisinau will be outfitted with medical devices that will be bought with Japanese funds. The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the bill to ratify the Grant Agreement on the Implementation of the Program to Strengthen the Medical System signed with the Government of Japan, IPN reports.
Under the agreement, the grant of 1 billion Japanese yen, which is equal to over US$ 7 million, will be used to cover the urgent needs of the health system by purchasing medical devices.
The five institutions are: the Emergency Medicine Institute, the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga”, the Mother and Child Institute, the Oncological Institute and Saint Trinity Municipal Clinic Hospital.
“The Agreement concluded by the exchange of notes between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Japan for implementing the Program to Strengthen the Medical System is necessary given the difficult situation caused by the refugee crisis and the necessity of ensuring the access of refugees and of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to medical services of a higher quality,” says the bill.
The Agreement was signed in Chisinau on August 17 this year.
