Five persons suffered injuries when a trolleybus running on route in Chisinau crashed into a pole on Mesterul Manole St in Chisinau. Press officer of the Chisinau Emergency Hospital Romeo Shcherbina has told IPN that three women and two men were brought to the hospital, one of whom with rib fractures. Two of these were admitted. The others will receive ambulatory treatment.
Contacted by IPN, head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said the trolleybus wasn’t malfunctioning and the accident was due to the human factor. The driver was on probation and should have been assisted by a driver with experience, as the regulations require. “It seems that the chief driver went to solve some personal problems and the probationer was alone. We are yet to establish if he set off alone or was told to do so by the chief driver,” stated Morgoci.
The damage caused to the trolleybus hasn’t been yet assessed, but the unit of transport will most probably not be withdrawn from route.
